Reverence Basket

So this creation I must credit to Melissa Kvetko. She is the genius behind it’s birth. Her and I were both called to serve in our church’s youth program as Young Women’s leaders. All the girls in the program these days have the scriptures on their iPods or smartphones, so they rarely tote around their ink and paper bibles.

Don’t get me wrong, technology is an AWESOME blessing, especially that we can carry our scriptures with us wherever we go. BUT it is always a constant companion for distraction as well. During our lessons on Sundays, one minute the girls might be following along in Matthew and the next they might be engaged in a silent game of “Angry Birds” or updating their Facebook status. A solid 30 minutes of no distractions could do them good. THEREFORE Melissa in her infinite wisdom birthed the idea for a “Reverence Basket” where the girls could turn in their cell phones and iPods for the duration of YW on Sunday thereby offering up their full attention, and receiving ours in return.

So I offered to put something together and this is what I came up with…
