Wedding Chalk

I wanted to share this with everyone, especially those who were at the wedding and helped put this together, but never got to see the final product.

My mother and I spent weeks trying to invent a unique activity for the wedding while on a budget. We both agreed that the traditional “guest book” is kind of lame. I mean, who really whips out their “guest book” from time to time to take a stroll through its pages and see who showed up?? I bet that the only time most people look at their book is when they are packing up for a move and find it in a box of the attic. Then they spend the next five minutes deciding to chuck it or not, but can’t let it go, so it stays in a box until the next move where the cycle repeats. Anyways, since chalkboards are in vogue these days, I developed this new and improved “guest book” that will actually have purpose and meaning! It currently hangs above our couch, and you know, I thought I would maybe get ick of looking at it after a few months. But I haven’t! Instead it never fails to make me smile :)

  • I feel bad that vwe never did get to sign it.

    • You can come visit and sign it then!! :)

  • This is really great. I just may have to steal this idea when I do get married :) It’s so sweet and I agree its something that can be treasured longer than a simple guest book. So creative. Bravo, and kudos to you for thinking of something so uniquely awesome!

    • You are more than welcome to use the idea. If you need help putting it together, just let me know!

  • Ana,

I love this blog! I’m so glad you linked to it on facebook. Do you mind if I copy this picture and link to your post for a post on my own blog? I love this idea and would love to save it for the future! My blog is http://vodkaphonics.tumblr.com

    Thanks :)

    • You would be MOST welcome to! I am so glad you enjoyed it :)

  • You have so many great ideas on your blog! Love it – so glad to find you. My son has a chalkboard wall in his room and all his buddies sign it – great idea for a wedding :)

    • Thanks Lisa! And chalkboard in a kids’ room is a great idea I will have to save for my future kiddos. I would think it would be a relativley-mess free activity as I dont know chalk to stain. Thanks for further inspiration :)

  • LOVE this idea! But, how do you preserve the chalk from accidentally getting erased?

    • Over a while, the chalk calcifies on the board. It won’t be completely erase-proof, but after a few months it will be more resistant. We have moved 3 times and still no major smudges!

  • That looks amazing!!

So, what do you think?
